Special opportunities exist at Rutgers to strengthen entire colleges, schools, and programs through the investment of gifts of $1 million or more. Providing such principal gifts in the form of endowed funds allows their impact to last forever. Principal gifts may be directed to specific designations, such as financial aid to attract outstanding students, or senior professorships to recruit faculty of the highest caliber. Such gifts may also be unrestricted – allowing the university president and deans to use the funds where they are most needed and to respond to new opportunities as they arise.
