The Rutgers Fund
A venerable tradition of giving that was started in the 1700s continues today with the Rutgers Fund -
the university's annual fund. Through telephone and mail,
the Rutgers Fund reaches out to alumni, parents,
and friends with updates on the university and requests to support the area at Rutgers that means the
most to them. The reward for giving each fund year (July 1 through June 30) is knowing that you are
helping to educate the world's future leaders while upholding the value of a Rutgers degree and
maintaining its prestigious reputation.
For the Students. For the Future.
While Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has undergone several
transformations since 1766, one thing remains constant – a commitment to the
best education possible for every student.
Mary Baglivo, volunteer Chair of the Rutgers Fund, feels passionately about
Rutgers. Following in her father's footsteps, Mary graduated from Rutgers in
1979 and, like her father, enjoyed her experience here. “Looking back, it was
truly one of the most inspirational experiences in my life,” she says.
Rutgers is the kind of place where people are able to live out the American
Dream and where they can “pull themselves up by their own bootstraps,” Mary
says. She wants to see those without financial resources get the same kind of
experience she had while attending the university. In fact, she established a
scholarship fund so students with tremendous potential could turn their dreams into reality
through a Rutgers education.
Mary believes that the passionate spirit of Rutgers comes from its students. The
student development officers at the Telefund programs help keep the RU spirit
alive as they contact thousands of alumni, parents, and friends, reminding them
that they are an integral part of the Rutgers family.
Having served on numerous Rutgers committees and as a member of the Board
of Overseers since 2000, it is clear that Mary values the
importance of taking an active role within the university. She urges alumni and friends
to donate to the Rutgers Fund and help make Rutgers a special educational experience for current and future students. For
