Notice Regarding Reformation of Martin Funds
The Rutgers University Foundation, with the support of the donor’s widow, has filed court applications to modify the terms of three gifts made to Rutgers by the late Harold H. Martin. These gifts are:
- The Harold H. and Reba Martin Endowed Scholarship Fund in the School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
The Foundation seeks to modify the restriction on this fund to increase the amount of the scholarship grants from $400 annually, an amount set in 1990, to at least $1,000 annually and possibly as much as the student’s demonstrated financial need.
The Harold Martin Endowed Fellowship Fund for the Benefit of The Eagleton Institute, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
The Foundation seeks to modify an investment restriction on the fund so that it may invest the fund with the Rutgers endowment and use the University’s spending rate to determine the amount to distribute annually to support graduate students at The Eagleton Institute.
- The Harold and Reba Martin Endowed Fund for Stem Cell Research at the Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
The Foundation seeks to have the restriction on this fund released so that principal and income may be spent on a current basis to advance stem cell research on spinal cord injuries.
The Court will hear these matters on October 28 at 9:00 a.m. at the Middlesex County Courthouse, Courtroom 302, 56 Paterson Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey.
