Message from President Jonathan Holloway
On his first day in office, July 1, 2020, President Jonathan Holloway kick-started a $10 million focused campaign for the Scarlet Promise Grants program. To launch the campaign, the president personally donated $75,000.
Rutgers University is fortunate to be supported by many loyal donors whose gifts make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, faculty, and staff and in the communities they serve. Giving societies were formed to express the university community’s deep appreciation to donors who commit to Rutgers and help the university improve lives everywhere.
Colonel Henry Rutgers Society
The Colonel Henry Rutgers Society recognizes those thoughtful graduates and friends who make an estate gift or other form of deferred gift that Rutgers will receive in the future. Members join a long tradition of supporters whose commitment, like Colonel Henry’s, demonstrates a faith in the future through a planned gift that lasts beyond a lifetime.
R Fund Scarlet Society
The R Fund works to ensure that Rutgers student-athletes are provided with all the resources necessary to succeed as scholars, as athletes, and as leaders in the community. Membership in the Scarlet Society recognizes a donor’s passion, loyalty, and generosity with opportunities for exclusive access.
Rutgers Loyalty Society
The Rutgers Loyalty Society recognizes donors who have made a gift to the university for two or more consecutive fiscal years. When members of the Rutgers community come together each year to show their support, the long-term effects are astounding. Loyalty Society membership is based on participation, not amount, because every gift has a positive impact on programs across the university.
Since 1990, the President’s Council has recognized those donors who give most generously to Rutgers during a single fiscal year. Through their contributions, the members of the President’s Council play a vital role in supporting the university and raising Rutgers’ profile among the finest public research universities.

The generosity of thousands of alumni and friends empowers Rutgers’ students, faculty and leaders to accomplish the extraordinary every day.
