On December 1, 2020, the Rutgers community took part in Giving Tuesday—a worldwide philanthropic event that takes place each year following Thanksgiving. Our focus was strengthening the Scarlet Promise Grants program. Alumni, students, staff members, and friends of Rutgers—1,129 donors in all—came together to raise $261,436 for this crucial, life-changing initiative, as well as other important causes.

Scarlet Promise Grants provide financial support to talented students for whom a world-class Rutgers education would otherwise be impossible. Receiving a grant often means the difference between earning a college degree or not. When you give to this program, you do more than ease the financial burden of higher education—you help students take their place among society’s future leaders and create a better world.

Thank you for believing in the transformative power of the Rutgers experience. Let’s take pride in what we achieved together on Giving Tuesday—and please keep the momentum going by sharing the good news with your friends and networks.
