Class of 1976 — 45th Milestone Campaign

It is hard to believe that our class will celebrate 45 years since graduation. Four and a half decades have passed since Rutgers challenged each of us—whether it was in the classroom, on the playing field, or through any number of campus activities. Our class reunion will be held during Homecoming/Alumni Weekend in October of 2021. Dates and event details will be shared in the coming months.

In keeping with our time-honored tradition of giving back, our class will complement our anniversary with a special class gift. A lot may have changed in forty-five years, but one thing remains the same, Rutgers’ commitment to excellence and to providing the best possible experience for its students.

On his first day in office, Rutgers 21st president, Jonathan Holloway, announced the launch of a $10M campaign for Scarlet Promise Grants, an initiative that is a top priority for the university this year. Scarlet Promise Grants are funded through a combination of a university budget allocation and philanthropy. Students receive Scarlet Promise Grants as part of their comprehensive financial aid packages, however, grants are also made for hardship appeals, such as the death of a parent, loss of employment, and health emergencies. They range from $500 to $5,000 per academic year. You can read in more detail about the grants by visiting support.rutgers.edu.

I am pleased to announce that our class will focus this anniversary year on raising funds in support of the Scarlet Promise Grants initiative.

We hope to endow the Class of 1976 Scarlet Promise Grant Fund at $25,000 and we need your help to achieve that goal. Please join me in making a gift to the Class of 1976 Fund, which houses funds for our class gifts. Whether you have never given to Rutgers, or are a loyal supporter, there is no better time to make a special gift than in honor of reunion.

Gifts to any area at Rutgers made by members of the Class of 1976 from July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021 will count toward our class giving campaign total, and contributors will be added to the Class of 1976 Honor Roll of Donors for helping us make a significant contribution to the university.
