Class of 1980 — 40th Milestone

Alumni Weekend, originally planned for April 24 and 25, has been postponed, helping to slow the spread of COVID-19. During this time of uncertainty, this decision is best for the protection of Rutgers’ alumni, staff, faculty, and friends.

During these difficult times, your support is more critical than ever.

The Class of 1980 has always remained dedicated to supporting the needs of students and the Rutgers community through our generous giving over the years. Now is no different. Despite not convening on campus for our 40th reunion just yet, we can still make an enormous impact. Our campaign efforts to support the Class of 1980 Scholarship Fund and the Patient Relief Fund at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey will directly impact the lives of Rutgers students and patients in financial need. Scholarships are of utmost importance at this time as students grapple with a loss of on-campus jobs, income, affordable housing, and necessities.

If you have the means, please give what you can to the Class of 1980 Fund. Your support is especially important during this time. After all, at Rutgers, this is what we do. We come together as a community when it’s needed most. Your generosity will help those in need and will prepare the next generation of students to better our world.

Support the Patient Relief Fund at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

It’s our 40th class anniversary!

The Class of 1980 will mark this milestone with a gift to the Patient Relief Fund at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).

A diagnosis of cancer is devastating. With no regard for socioeconomic status, it can create hardships for even the most resource-secure families. Patients who were once financially stable may find themselves in a position of need as their resources are depleted or disappear. The CINJ Patient Relief Fund provides a bridge until patients in need have secured access to more permanent resources.

To help us achieve our $25,000 goal, we ask that you join us in making a significant gift this anniversary year to the Class of 1980 Fund. All gifts to the university made from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020, will count in our class giving total; however, only gifts made specifically to the Class of 1980 Fund will support the CINJ Patient Relief Fund.

Keep in mind that if you work for, or are retired from, a company that matches employee contributions, it is a great way to double your impact. Gifts of stock are also a perfect way to make a gift and avoid capital gains.

All Gifts Made During the Fiscal Year Count

Any and all gifts to any area at Rutgers made by members of the Class of 1980 during the reunion fiscal year (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020) will count toward our class giving (campaign) total, and contributors will be added to the Class of 1980 Honor Roll of Donors for allowing us to make a significant contribution to the university.

The following will also be added toward our total:

Cash, credit, or even shares of stock
Estate gifts
Matching gifts from current or former employers
