Class of 1972 — 50th Milestone

The excitement is building! This year marks our 50th anniversary of graduation from Rutgers! Five decades have passed since we last walked to class on College Avenue. Much has changed in our lives, but the memories of our undergraduate years on the banks remain with us forever. We will soon have the opportunity to celebrate those memories together at our 50th reunion during Homecoming Weekend in the fall of 2022. A highlight of the weekend will be the induction of our class into the Old Guard, a time-honored tradition for classes marking their 50th anniversary. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime ceremony, and many other reunion events.

We hope you agree that we owe much of our success in life to our Rutgers education. There is no better way to recognize the value that our Rutgers education holds for us than by giving back in honor of this most significant of alumni milestones. We have designated our class reunion gift to the university in support of the Rutgers Honors College and the Gary and Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center.

The Honors College, established in 2015, is a unique program at Rutgers, and a place where uncommon things happen. Honors students from engineering, dance, biology, business, and English programs live and work together to tackle complex problems and global issues. The mission of the Honors College is to prepare students to become socially responsible leaders who will improve the world. The Honors College fosters a community where intellectual curiosity, hands-on knowledge, service, and compassion for one another are central tenets. It’s a place where live-in faculty and students meet regularly to share their ideas and learn from one another. The Gary and Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center promotes the academic efforts of approximately 700 Rutgers student-athletes. With academic support services ranging from individual tutoring to workshops and seminars, the Academic Success Center cultivates the minds of our Scarlet Knights.

We have set an ambitious fundraising goal and need your commitment to support these worthy initiatives. Each of your 50th milestone committee members have made their gift and have laid the foundation for a successful fundraising effort. Please join us by making your gift in honor of this 50th anniversary year to the Class of 1972 Fund, which retains the contributions for our class gifts.

Gifts to any area at Rutgers made by members of the Class of 1962 from July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022 will count toward our class giving campaign total, and contributors will be added to the Class of 1972 Honor Roll of Donors for helping us make a significant contribution to the university.
