Our Media and Our Civic Life Series - Part 1 - How Did We Get Here: 30 Years of Misinformation

A three-part webinar series exclusively for Rutgers and Eagleton alumni led by SCI and Eagleton alums Gina Marcello, Associate Teaching Professor, Journalism and Media Studies Department, Rutgers University (’02 GF) and Claude Taylor, Project Director, Title V DHSI Grant, Middlesex College (’03 GF). Our Media and Our Civic Life is a three-part webinar series designed to provide Rutgers and Eagleton Institute of Politics alums with an understanding of disinformation and misinformation—where it has been, where it is now, and where it is heading. The series will blend academic research, real-world examples, and possible solutions to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to counter misinformation effectively. The segments on April 14, May 12, and June 17 will critically examine the evolution of misinformation, its current manifestations, and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of information integrity. Sponsored by the Eagleton Institute of Politics Alumni Committee, the School of Communication and Information in partnership with the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, and the Rutgers University Alumni Association.
